Volunteers from SCI Maine attend Cabela's Grand Opening in Scarborough, ME

    May 17th & 18th and May 24th & 25th

SCI's Maine Chapter was invited to participate in Cabela's Grand Opening celebrations. We were provided a prime, high-traffic location inside the store (for those who've been inside the store, we setup right next to the aquarium!) to set up a booth.  Our booth included the Laser Shot setup and lots of "photorama" displays showing who we are and the programs we support. Many people took information about our chapter, AWLs and we talked at length about SCI. We even found two meat cutters, one person who wants to donate meat to Sportsman against hunger and we signed up a new member!

We would like to express our sincerest thanks to the following people who helped make our participation possible:

  • Sue Wright, Cabela's Event Coordinator -- for all her hard work, stopping by often to make sure things were running smoothly.

  • All the friendly, helpful Cabela's staff helping us set up and tear down each night.

  • Vicki Moriarty, Chapter President, and Skip Zerquera -- both of whom spent their last two weekends manning the booth.

  • Also helping to man the booth:  Claudia LaChance, Leo Soucy, and his grandson, Tommy, and Sandie Spear.

  • Thanks also to Sandy Hosmer for the use of the Laser Shot, The New Hampshire Chapter for the use of the projector and Raul for the use of his laptop.

Check out the slideshow of pictures from the event -- keep your eyes out for the photo of famous Maine trapper Oscar Cronk and one of Craig Boddington with Vicki Moriarty.

P.S. If you haven't made it to the new Cabela's store yet, trust us .... you're missing a good time!
